My dad was stationed in Okinawa – so growing up we listened to old phonograph records of Alfred Apaka, Hawaii Calls on Sundays, and Hawaiian music played at parties by people from the islands.

We've always had Hawaiian music in our home - my dad fondly loves it and my mom was always his favorite hula dancer.

Til today, how could you not feel it in your bones when ever / where ever you hear it. I instantly put my mind on the island – feel the warm winds blowing, the fragrance of plumeria, the 3-piece groups playing in the hotels or airports, smiling faces and picturing the all the places I saw as a kid.

You can always picture your long ago relatives smiling, singing and dancing, too.
