Aloha from Berlin, Germany
When Hawaii became the 50th State of the USA I was listening to the Radio Station AFN Berlin's (Germany) broadcast 'From the beach of Waikiki'.
I was 12 years old at that time and I dreamed myself to the Islands of Hawaii. My Dad was an US-American and I didn't know where he was, because a grew up just with my Mom. But I always thought, he is living on Hawaii.
It took years and years to find him and do you know where he was living.... in Hawaii (Oahu). I saw him the first time in my life when I was 32 years old. A few years l ater he passed away.
In the meantime I'm 61 years old and have been on vacation on Hawaii 13 times. I just came back to Germany for Christmas 2007. Well I'm born in Berlin, Germany and still live here, but my soul will always be in Hawaii.
Mahalo and Tschuess,
Heidi (heiki)
