Hawaiian music has always been apart of my families lives... as a young child... I remember gathering under the mango tree at grandmas house (in ewa) with my dad and his brothers and sisters singing and just jammin... as I got older my cousins started to join in.

Unfortunately for Alan and I, we were not blessed with the musical gene... we were the athletes in the family. From these jam sessions, my quiet cousin emerged... you all know him as Glen S., Glenny to me...hehehe

My parents and I moved to San Jose, CA. in 1963, where daddy started a band "Boma and the Beach Bums and the Lomi Lomi Dancers". Yep, that was us... lol... it was compiled of all my mainland cousins from my mom's side. This kept us out of trouble and we were around the music.

From here my cousin Nate D. arose and is now playing with Saiche here in S.F. He had the pleasure of accomping Cyril Pahanui one year in Santa Cruz.

Unfortunately daddy passed away before he could see his nephews become accomplished musicians and his only child learn to play his uke 15 yrs after he joined all of our other family and friends in heaven. All of us are now in our late 40's and mid 50's still enjoying the music and watching our children participating with their parents, uncles and aunts.

We still have jam sessions and we all reminisce of the days when my dad and our uncles were here with us, we still hear their voices and their music in our minds and in our hearts...

Mahalo,
Kolohe aka Janice M. B.
