I grew up on the old school Hawaiian music and it continues to be my favorite today. Favorites such as Olomana, Sunday Manoa, Sons of Hawai'i, Kalapana, etc.

On Sunday's after church, my dad would put on the radio, we would listen to Jesse Nakaoka (I think he was the only station playing Hawaiian music at that time) and while making breakfast, we would sing along to whatever was playing!

Hawaiian music would always be playing in our house, especially when I started to dance hula. Like any local family, my mom and dad enrolled me in hula. Hula and music, what more can you say?! My dad has passed on now but every now and again, I hear an old school song like "Only You" or "Maui Waltz" and imagine my dad singing along to these tunes ... good memories!

Aloha, Ku'ulei A.
