Hi there, My most memorable time with Hawaiian music was in 1959, when I met Mr. Bill Ahnee in Hermosa Beach, California. We used to play music at the bars, and always recieved free food and booze cause da Howlies loved our music.

Thats when I used to surf with all da famous surfers, such as Donald Takiyama, Harold Ige, Rabitt Kekai, and some hoale Surfers such as Hap Jacobs, Greg Knoll, and Dewey Weber.

Mr. Bill Ahnee moved back to Hawaii and became known as Bill Kaiwi in the Hawaiian Music circles.

I am now retired In Las Vegas, and am currently a member of the Hawaiian Legends Ukulele Serenaders of Las Vegas, Nevada. Our Instructure is Makalena Maeda. We rehearse once a week and entertain at Senior Citizens and various Class reunions here in Las Vegas. I really love music, and was in the choir back in the fifties at Roosevelt High in Honolulu. So thats how I came to love our Hawaiian music and also our culture.

Mahalo,

Wendell A.
