Hosted in partnership with Hālau Kū Māna, join us for a special one-night film festival created by activists for activists. The Wild & Scenic Film Festival brings together a selection of films to change the world and tours around the country to more than 230 locations hosted by other organizations that use the festival as a platform to inspire activism in their own communities.

Curated by Hālau Kū Māna eighth graders, the program is crafted to resonate with our Hawaiʻi audience. Festival-goers can expect to see award winning films about nature, community activism, adventure, conservation, water, energy and climate change, wildlife, environmental justice, agriculture, Native American and indigenous cultures. Considered to be one of the nation’s premier environmental and adventure film festivals, this year’s films will combine stellar filmmaking, beautiful cinematography and first-rate storytelling to inform, inspire and ignite solutions to restore the earth while creating a positive future for the next generation.

Hālau Kū Māna is a Hawaiian-focused public charter school in Makiki in its 19th year. Each grade level is focused on modernizing a traditional cultural practice through interdisciplinary, place-based inquiry. This film festival is the culmination of the eighth grade project, Ko Kula, Uka, which focuses on upland resource management and community organizing around watersheds.
